By Alia KubeReinventing the Candle SconceTraditionally the candle sconce was a brass candle holder that attached to the wall. Some were very simple, but quit often the were ornate with elegant designs or shades that fit over top of the candle. Today the idea of the candle sconce has been reinvented. Candle sconces are now being designed out of wrought iron, brushed chrome and silver, and glass. The shape of the candle scone has also been changed. Modern designs are being created that are bold and change the way we think about adding mood and lighting to a room. Some are still very simple, a single glass votive holder held by a metal base. Others hold multiple candles either stretching horizontally across the wall or hanging vertically. Another twist on the candle sconce combines it with a mirror. A wrought iron frame with a vine design and a couple spots to hold tealights around a small mirror is a nice addition to a bathroom or front hallway. Whatever the decor of your home, whether it be traditional, art deco, or more modern, there is a candle sconce to match that style that will also add a unique flavor to your home.
