By Alia KubeA gel candle that looks and smells like your favorite Jam!One type of candle that has recently become very popular is the gel candle. A gel candle uses a firm gel wax that can be dyed and scented. They will always come in a container, whether it be as small as a votive or as large as a goldfish bowl. The wax is also translucent which is what makes these candles different from any other. As well, because you can see through the wax there is a lot that can be done with them to make them unique and special. Often you'll find a gel candle with an ornament set inside the wax, and the larger the candle is the more elaborate this type of decoration can get. For example, There are fish bowl sized candles that have an underwater scene in them; a couple of fish suspended in the gel and a starfish or seashell resting on some sand at the bottom. The decorations in others reflect the scent of the candle, perhaps some orange rind for a marmalade scented candle or a cinnamon stick for apple pie. One other unique option is a martini glass with clear gel wax and an olive. When burning a gel candle follow the same rules that you would with any other candle. Do not leave it burning unattended. Keep the wick trimmed to 1/4 of an inch. Keep it away from flammable items. Depending on the size of the container you'll want to burning the candle for no more then 2 to 4 hours at one time and when there's about 1/4 of an inch of wax left stop burning the candle. Candles are to be enjoyed whether you're relaxing or having an intimate moment and the light of a gel candle will certainly do the trick.
