variations on hanging candle holders And where to find them

A more decorative variation on candle holders are hanging candle holders. There are a number of styles of hanging candle holders from chandeliers to glass drop holders and lanterns. They are generally made to hold tea lights, but can also be found to hold tapers, votives or small ball candles.

The most elaborate hanging candle holders are chandeliers. You'll find them in a number of style and usually made from metal, such as brass, brushed steel or wrought iron. They are excellent as a decorative accent hanging above your dinning room table or in a front hallway. You'll want to be sure that you still have another source of light, because although a chandelier can be very decorative and create an intriguing atmosphere, they are not always the most practical.

There are other hanging candle holders that are more practical and are still just as decorative. Smaller holders take up less room and are not as prominent a feature in a room. They can be hung in a corner, near a window or above a doorway if they don't hang too low. Some are beaded with a glass holder for the candle and others are more like lanterns with a metal frame and either glass or cloth. These are great for hanging outside on a summer night, but caution must be taken with cloth lanterns that there is no wind and that the candle used is small enough that it wont catch the cloth on fire, usually a tealight is best.
