Tealights are the little candle that can do almost anything

Tealights are the little candle that can do almost anything

Tealights are the smallest candle you'll find and they usually come in a metal or clear cup to prevent the candle from dripping as it is burned. There are two main ways that tealights can be used, by themselves or to illuminate a candle holder.

By themselves, you can line up tealights on a window sill, counter top, fireplace mantel or even on the edge of the bath tub for a nice relaxing soak. They are very simple and offer a glow that can be relaxing when on your own or romantic with a couple dozen of them lighting up a room for two.

Most tealights have an approximate burning time of 4 hours. You can find regular white tealights in bulk for three to five dollars per bag, depending on how many are in the bag. Or you can also find them in packs of six in different colors and scents. You'll even find them made out of beeswax. There are also novelty varieties of tealights, they might look like a ladybug or bumble bee or some other festive holiday form.

Different Types of Candle Holders for Tealights

There are small glass holders that are made for tealights, but most often they will sit in a larger decorative holder. For example a hanging candle chandelier might use tealights or a candle fireplace screen will have spots to hold a number of tealights. There are many decorative and elaborate holders that are made for this type of candle because they are so small and easily manageable, they are also very inexpensive.

Many candle lanterns and lamps or wall holders will use tealights. They are also commonly used in candle boxes or to illuminate a picture in glass. Tealights can be floated in water like floating candles.

They are also used in aromatherapy diffusers and tart warmers. A nice set of six tealights in your favorite scent also makes a good addition to any gift. Tealights are probably the simplest, smallest, most useful and affordable candles you'll find.

What Makes Tealights So Practical?

The best thing about tealights is that you don't have to worry too much when burning them. They have a small wick and are self contained, so if burned on a flat surface the wax will stay in the container and wont drip on your table cloth or furniture. The flame will never get to large and you don't have to worry about trimming the wick.

They are one use candles, generally speaking, so you can throw them out when you're done using them and since they come in their own container this is easy (no more cleaning wax out of holders).

As well, since they only burn for a few hours, if you happen to forget to blow them out as you're rushing out the door they most likely wont cause a fire, that is if they're on an flat, heat proof surface and not near any flammable objects. However, you should always practice caution when burning candles and never leave them burning unattended.
